Default B-Series Cable vs Hydro

These pictures show a LS YS1 versus a S4C housing.
YS1 is always on the left.

  • Bottom view
  • YS1 has a lower mount on this side
  • If the cable housing doesn't have the two shift rod bolt holes, it is not "hydro-internals" compatible

  • Front view
  • Clutch lever hole is very different

  • Top view

YS1

S4C

A lot of folks have been confirming that hydro transmission internals can
be installed into the cable YS1 transmission. But nothing is truth online
until you have the pictures posted to prove it and a how-to article.
Steve @ g2ic wrote up a mini-article detailing swapping over S80 internals
with a LSD into his LS1 YS1. From the pictures here, you can tell the housings
are very similar. No surprise the parts do swap across.

On both a ITR S80 and this S4C, Honda only uses 1 magnet in the bracket
built for two. On all the cable trannies I've examined, they always have 2.
Might be a minor upgrade hydro tranny owners may want to do.

When I remove my S1 transmission, I will try to get pictures of it up as well
to compare to the YS1.

I allways wondered why my brother kept breaking Diffs on his old B16 Cable tranny and when we put a stock 99 SI B16 diff it worked flawlessly.

the D series replacement pin is "gold" in color, aka the golden diff pin. The ZC tranny that I was given to convert, has the gold diff pin. Only the second one I've ever seen.
