Anyone curious about Carfax? I'll be happy to share my opinion of their service until around mid August . . .

PM is key ;-)

does this service really work? will it tell me things like if the gas nozzle was ever left in the car, and accidently driven off? inquiring minds want to know! someone let me know.

I'm pretty sure Carfax gives you the option to print out the carfax report that's generated. There are programs out there, that allow you to print a report out to pdf file that you can save on your computer(I believe Adobe has one).

One thing to check, if you have Microsoft Office installed on your pc, I believe it creates a printer called "Microsoft Office Document Image Writer" which will allow you to print the report out into a tif file.

Adobes PDF writer is Acrobat Pro which sells for $500 or some crazy amount

Cute PDF is free and does the exact same thing. It installs a virtual printer that you can "print" your documents to and cutePDF will save them as a PDF file

Wow! I knew Adobe's PDF writer wasn't free, but I had no idea it costs "$500 or some crazy amount". But like I said and as you pointed out, there are software out there that saves documents as pdf files.

Chris,

If you have MS Office 2003 or newer, you can print the report to a .mdi file (Microsoft Document Imaging) then save it to your PC. Same idea like the Adobe's PDF writer.

I learned this from Outrun.

HTH,
Geoffrey
