Have you been on a track yet? Whether the answer is yes or no, I want to invite you to join us at the Hybrid Track Day at the Streets of Willow, July 1st. But that catch is we need to pay for half by the end of January, so your going to have to make up your mind now!

ariel view the streets

The streets is IMHO the perfect track to really learn your FF. Its good for beginner and expert alike. I like to compare the Streets to a fast autocross course. Its 1.5 miles with elevation changes, off camber corners, downhill corners, decreasing radius corners, and one long uphill straight. You will either learn to drive your Honda correctly, or you will destroy your tires and brakes trying. Maybe both :)

I guess I should warn you that the Streets can be tough on the car. Because so many corners are packed into a short distance, and the speeds are slower, many people find their brakes get real hot, and the engine can get hot too. This is also because you will get plenty of track time. So get those big brakes and upgrading the radiator on your B engine hybrid before July.

I need some information from you guys about what you would like to get out of this event, so take my little 9 question survey. I will announce sign ups after this weekend. If you have immediate questions, e-mail me, and I'll answer the FAQs here.

"I WANT TO SIGN UP!"

Then fill out the sign up form!

In order to be registered for this event, you need to be one of the first 40 on the sign up list, and payment has to be recieved by Jan 25th, so hurry!

FAQ

Q: Do I have to be a HYBRID discussion board member?
A: No.

Do I have to own a HYBRID?
A: No.

Q: Do I need a rollbar?
A: No.

Q: Do I need a Helmet?
A: Yes, you need a Snell 85 or newer helmet. I have one helmet: mine. So unless others bring more than one, there will not be spare helmets.

Q: Do I really have to bring my own food?
A: There is a Taco Bell a few miles down the street.

Q: What else should I bring?
A: Water, lots of drinking water, brake fluid, your necessary tools, extra set of pads and rotors, spare parts [buddy system and barter systems works at these events], an easy-up tent, camera, sunscreen, a big brimmed hat, sunglasses, gas, radiator coolant.

Q: Is $80 the full payment?
A: Yes! Full payment for July 1st, 2000 (the only day) at the Streets of Willow.

Q: What happens if my car breaks the day before the event or at the event? Do I get a refund?
A: No. If we did, we would have to collect from the other 39 people.

Q: What is the refund policy?
A: Individual cancellations received at least twenty days in advance of the event will be allowed and entry fees refunded in full. Cancellations received less than twenty days in advance of the event will be refunded only if the driver's space can be filled with another driver. If the event is canceled, for weather or other reasons, refunds will be made for entry fees less any event costs. (Note that event costs will be significantly less if the event is canceled than they will be if the event is held.)

Q: I am #41, will I get it in?
A: #41-45 will probably get in, if past experience is true. When Jan 25th comes around, I will resort the list based on order they signed up and whether payment was recieved.

Q: We will there be a tech inspection?
A: Yes, we will have a tech inspection. You don't want to fail, so I will give explicit details later. Also, plan to install your last upgrade/maintainence parts at least a week or two before the event and make sure they work before you show up. You want to make the most of your time.

Q: Hard on brakes?
A: Oh yes. Very. Bleeding your brakes the night before is a good idea. Upgraded pads in front are recommended.

More thoughts:
Fill up your tank as close to Willow as you can. The 4th gen Civics are especially prone to fuel starvation from sloshing gas with as much as 1/2 tank. And the 5th gen Civics suffer from this also.

Read the MR2 track day info sheet. Everything applies to this event. Everything I know about organizing these events I learned from attending Patrick's events.
